September Coaching Nugget
Updated: 4 days ago
A nugget from my coaching sessions to help you create a writing life you love.

✏️ Maybe it’s switching on a special recording of music, or white noise.
✏️Maybe it’s brewing a special cup of tea, or uncapping a favourite pen.
✏️ Author, Steven Pressfield, says that he kicks off by reciting the Invocation to the Muse from Homer’s Odyssey.
A regular writing practice is life-changing, but it takes some intentional planning to set it in motion.
A few years ago, when I was grooving in my 10-minute daily writing practice, I would kick off every day by texting a friend, to tell her I was about to write. Texting energized me and stating my commitment sealed off the exit ramp. Once I hit "send," I was ready to start.
What simple ritual would steer you to the page?
Once you are into a daily writing groove, you may no longer need your ritual, and it may naturally fall away. But if your practice lapses, returning to your ritual is a quick way to re-ignite. It can feel easier to re-start the ritual than to resume an abandoned project - and once you complete your ritual, muscle memory takes over and helps you start writing again.
